Triple Olympic gold medallist Usain Bolt will take his training to another level since his car accident three weeks ago on Highway 2000 in St Catherine.

His 2009 BMW M3, which was given to him as a birthday gift by his sponsor Puma last year, was written off in the accident.

However, the world's fastest man had his insurance claim settled in super fast time as he was presented with his cheque by Advantage General Insurance at their office on Trafalgar Road yesterday.

The value of the cheque was not disclosed, but the car was estimated at $15 million when it was purchased.

Foot injury

The 23-year-old sprinter suffered injury to his left foot when he stepped on thorns as he alighted his car at the accident scene.

"I'm very happy that everything is now back to normal and I am glad that I didn't sustain any serious (injury) and I thank God everyday for keeping me safe," Bolt said.

He added: "I am feeling good because I was back to training on Thursday (last) and over the past couple of days the injuries have healed a lot more and today (yesterday) I will be doing spikes work.

"I am looking forward to the upcoming races and I am trying to get myself back on form to compete because a lot of the other guys are training hard to beat me," he observed.

Bolt added that he has missed a lot training since the accident and is anxious to get back to full fitness in time for his 150-metre street race in Manchester, England, this weekend.

Looking forward to England

"I still will be going to Manchester, England, and I am looking forward to it because I will going there to compete and not as a spectator in the street race," Bolt remarked.

He says he has not made up his mind yet about buying the same car.

"I am not sure if I am going to get back the same car, but it is a wonderful car and I loved it. But I may just get an SUV and I am looking to get an X6 or an X5," Bolt said.

Bolt was the star of last year's Olympics in Beijing, China. He won three gold medals - 100 metres, 200 metres and was a member of the 4x100 metres team - returning world record times in each event.

He subsequently received several awards, including Athlete of the Year, by the International Association of Athletics Federations.
