Arnett Gardens' coach, Fabian Davis, has high hopes for his team to reach the top three in the Digicel Premier League, following their 3-2 win over fourth-place Boys' Town yesterday at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex.
With four games left in the round, the Junglists, who advanced to 50 points, remained in fifth place but have now closed the gap on Boys' Town to four points.
A spirited game saw Boys' Town taking the lead through an own goal in the 12th minute, as the ball bounced off Arnett's Gerald Neil past his keeper.
However, goals from Newton Sterling in the 15th and 18th minutes, respectively, gave Arnett Gardens a 2-1 lead. Kwame Richardson gave Arnett Gardens their third goal in the 38th minute.
But the Red Brigade did not go down without a fight as captain Michael Campbell led by example and scored in the 43rd minute.
"I think it was a great team effort," said Davis. "We worked on our weak points throughout the week. There were some areas that we needed to step up on and we did that today," he said.
He added that the team needed to stay organised and keep in shape.
"The players have started to understand their roles and functions and it brought us three points this evening," Davis said.
He indicated that the team's new goal is to finish third in the league.
"We love challenges and the players are up for it. We put in the work every day, so it is possible," he said.
Boys' Town's coach, Andrew Price, said: "It's very hard to motivate them for the rest of the season. Each game, it gets more difficult, but as a coach that is what I am going to have to do. It is work in progress as we had a very good season and we want to finish it strongly," he said.
"We didn't get into the game until after 20 minutes of the first half. We played a much better second half but by that time, the game had already been over," he added.
