WESTERN BUREAU:

Chris Blackwell has always said, "Island Outpost is about a feeling - the rush of discovery, the joy of independence ... It is really about the spirit, sensibility and heart."

He was not at the 'Easeback' reception that his team held at New Kingston's Pure Lounge on Thursday night, but the rum that nears his name, great food and the signature Island Outpost look were in evidence.

More than hotels

Marketing and sales manager, Melissa Eldermire, delivered all locations: the exclusively secluded Caves in Negril; Ian Fleming's Goldeneye; jewel of Treasure Beach, Jakes; the mountains of Strawberry Hill, and San San's Geejam, in the confines of Kingston's newest hot spot, Pure Lounge.

"We are more than hotels, we are unique, breathtaking locations," declared Eldermire as she described each property, their attributes and an offer to take up special deals at any of their five Jamaican resorts.

Special guests

Capturing the attention of a good mix of the business community, those out included Beverly and Robert Russell; Godfrey and Odette Dyer; Dollis Campbell; Jason and Laura Henzell; Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett and Olivia 'Babsy' Grange; minister of information, culture, youth and sports; Enid Harrow; Paula and John Surtees; Chris Issa; Khesna Haber; Frederique Asberg; Mexican Ambassador Leonora Rueda and daughter, Itzel Gonzalez; Pan Caribbean's Tanya Allgrover; Philip Armstrong and Stephen Facey; Scotiabank's Roger Grant; Monique Todd and Bridget Lewis.

Kathy Snippy, Jenny Wood, Empress and Steven Golding, Jeanine Tribley, Ossie Osmond, Jon Baker and Nordia Witter; and a host of other people made up the impressive list of guests who turned out to celebrate Island Outpost in Kingston.
