Top-flight teams Tivoli Gardens and Portmore United were drawn for a mouth-watering clash when the second round of the Flow Champions Cup kicks off on Wednesday, March 4 and Thursday, March 5.
The knockout competition promises to be bigger and better, as 16 teams were drawn in eight matches on Monday, at the offices of the Jamaica Football Federation.
According to Sharon Roper, director of marketing at Flow Jamaica, they are looking forward to more exciting football.
"I think the first-round was a great start," Roper said. "We had some good football and lots of goals. I think we can see a natural clash where we have Tivoli Gardens going up against Portmore United. It's going to be very exciting and we are looking forward to the second round," she said.
Twenty-six goals were scored in the first round, an average of 2.6 per game.
Brian Rose, Tivoli Gardens FC manager, stated that the team, on any given day, would perform well, and when they played Portmore United, hopefully, they would come out and do their best.
Home advantage, support
"We have played Portmore United twice this season. They beat us once and we beat them once," Rose said. "We have beaten them at home and we are drawn to play them at home again. We have the home advantage and the crowd support," he said.
Sporting Central, who recorded their biggest win so far this season when they thrashed Trelawny's Duanvale 5-0, will face defending champions Waterhouse.
