Girls, the clock is running down to Valentine's Day so get cracking with plans.

If you're the type who anticipates being covered in chocolate by your significant other, or the transformation of 'Mr Right Now' into 'Mr Right Period', read on as Saturday Life explores a key weapon in your arsenal: Thongs, G-strings and V-strings for V-Day.

Don't go, "Yuck, butt floss!" or make the sign of the cross as though they are taboo. Lingerie is the match that will set the love candles ablaze.

Ideally, a good thong should lie flat against your derriere and not creep up between the cheeks too much.

Believe it or not, other than the above-mentioned result or possible chafing, there are quite a few benefits in wearing a lingerie, with or without clothes. V-strings and thongs also help you avoid those hideous panty lines and indicate to your partner that you're prepared to turn up the temperature later. So go on, hit him where it hurts.

Change gear

If you relish oversize, baggy-brief types, now is the time to change gear - if only for the big day - and get his engine revved up.

Enjoy the 'finer' side of life. Try a cotton-panel V-string with a lace waistband as these are super comfy and great for first-timers.

Who said V-strings are only for the petite? Another mindless myth. Full-figured babes are just as beautiful - just get your size.

There is a vast array of styles, colours and fabric to choose from, so let the beast out of the cage. Grrrrr!

The economy may be in the dumps and the price of these babies must have crossed your mind. They are also available at roadside stalls as well as more luxurious lingerie outlets or even online.

The best thing is that you need no props.

Though V-strings may be complemented by a flirty bra, fancy jewellery and killer pumps, the effect won't be lost in your birthday suit.

There you have it: lingerie 101. So steer away from the how-to-turn-your-guy-off-in-two-seconds undies and give your mate - and yourself - a treat to remember on Valentine's Day.
