"It comes down to making sure that you know what your children are doing and encouraging them to stay away from certain things. I personally do not think that there is any more crudeness to (Rampin' Shop) than to some other songs that have gone before. We need to encourage parents to monitor their children and to encourage them to know the difference between trash and what is not."

Nadine Molloy, president of the Jamaica Association of Principals and Vice-Principals of Secondary Schools

"The schools will continue to speak out on songs and other forms of literature like this. We will continue to speak out against it, as we have been doing, and we are calling on parents to monitor much more closely what their children are doing. Many of our children are unmonitored and unguided, so we are calling on parents to partner with the schools some more."

Robert Wynter,management consultant

"This is no different from several other songs. It's just that it has got more publicity at this time. You cannot separate our children from what is happening in the society. You just have to, as parents, monitor them closely and ensure that they are on the right path. Raise a child the way he should go and he will never depart from it, regardless of what is going on outside."

Miranda Sutherland, president, NationalParent-Teacher Association of Jamaica

"We are saying to our parents that you will have to begin to monitor the kind of phones that you purchase for your children. Some of them that have the phones with wireless connection, they are exposed to even more lyrics than these."
