DUHANEY STRIKERS, Jetsetters 'C' and Up Park Camp booked their spots in the semi-finals of this year' Jamaica Netball Association (JNA)/Supreme Ventures Divisional 'C' competition with victories yesterday at the Leila Robinson Courts.
Duhaney Strikers edged East Central 18-17, Jetsetters 'C' stopped Millennium Strikers 33-29 in overtime and Up Park Camp defeated Bridgeport 'B' 29-21.
The final semi-finalist was to be decided later in the day in the match between Molynes United 'C' and Rollington Town 'A'.
C. Lloyd Walker, coach of Jetsetters, was pleased with his team's performance.
"The game was evenly contested until, I think, Millennium Strikers lost their legs when the game went into extra time and gave us the victory," Walker said.
"I think we played badly in sections but this is something that we can work on for the semi-finals," he said.
"The players are still pretty young and their attacking technique broke down during parts of the game, but I must give them credit because conditions were also a bit difficult."
Happy with efforts
Yvette Blake, manager of Millennium Strikers, said despite her team's defeat, she was happy with its efforts.
"I am not disappointed that we lost because this is our fourth year in the competition and to reach the quarter-finals, I think we did very well," Blake said.
"We know that we made a lot of mistakes with our missing some easy shots but I think we played well and we are not upset that we lost the game," she said.
Shantel Edwards was the leading scorer for Jetsetters 'C' with 28 goals from 35 attempts, and she received support from Ovorita Porteous (five from eight).
Simone Thomas was the leading shooter for Millennium Strikers with 22 goals from 31 tries.
