D'Angel - Reflection of a mother's love
Of her five sisters and two brothers, Michelle Downer, more affectionately called 'Angel' (otherwise known as D'Angel), might very well be the epitome of being a 'mama's girl'. This is not just because she was deemed a talented singer from a tender age, but also because Pansy Nesbeth, her mother, could always rely on her to 'inform' on her older siblings.

World-famous Rhoden speaks on classical music

On Sunday, May 18, Jamaica's world-famous concert pianist, Orrett Rhoden, will give a joint recital with violinist Preston Hawes in the Mona Chapel, at the University of the West Indies. Last week, Rhoden, 47, shared with The Sunday Gleaner perspectives on the growth and development of classical music in Jamaica and elsewhere.

Caribbean Village moves into Sweet Auburn Spring Festival

A Caribbean component has been added to this year's Sweet Auburn Spring Festival in Atlanta, USA, that started on Friday and finishes today. For the first time the three-day festival which was started 25 years ago will have a Caribbean Village that was created by Danny Sterling, CEO and founder of Atlanta-based New Creation Records.
