There's a certain buzz around the Chinese community these days, and it all stems from the Olympic Games to be held in the Forbidden City, Beijing, in August.

And, Chinese Ambassador to Jamaica, Chen Jinghua, hosted a reception last Wednesday to mark the start of the 100-day countdown to the opening ceremony.

Out in the west, on April 26 there was a lavish Lagnavidhi (Hindu marriage ceremony) at the Franklyn D Resort in Runaway Bay, St Ann, for Suhel and Nameeta Jagtiani. Here are pictorial highlights.

  • (1) From left, Nikhl Daruwala (from Australia), Arjan Shahani, Carmela Shahani, Shanti Shahani and Ian Venegas (from Mexico) visited Jamaica for Suhel and Nameeta's wedding, which was held at the Franklyn D Resort in Runaway Bay.

  • (2) Visiting from the United States of America for the wedding of Suhel and Nameeta Jagtiani, are (from left) Reena Donohue, Shereli Jagtiani and Rajkumari Thadani.
