Jamaica Gleaner Letters

LETTER OF THE DAY - Shame on you, Ms Ritch!
The Editor, Sir: I Sunday Gleaner columnist Dawn Ritch: Dear Ms Ritch: I am writing in reference to your article of February 17, "Obama the Imposter". The definition for miscegenation is "Interbreeding of races whites and non-whites." Now, Ms Ritch, who would be non-whites?

Which US candidate good for Jamaica?

The Editor, Sir: Mr Seaga in his article in The Sunday Gleaner points to the importance of the American economic health to the Jamaican economy. It is prudent, therefore, to have more than a passing interest of the presidential election process in that country and who eventually becomes president.

Drastic action on school violence

The Editor, Sir: With reference to the on-going violence in schools and, more recently, the attack on the teachers at the Ocho Rios High School and Garlogie Primary and Junior High in Manchester, it saddens me to see the breakdown of discipline across the board in Jamaica today.

Teachers, leave while you can

The Editor, Sir: I have been taking an interest in articles pertaining to the rise in demonstrations in some educational institutions, born primarily out of discontentment with school administration and more recently, the lack of discipline among students.

Sports mailbag

THE EDITOR, Sir: I REFER to an article by your columnist Anthony Foster in the February 14 issue of The Gleaner, titled 'Annual awards need shake-up', in which he expressed certain opinions regarding the 2008 annual RJR Sports Foundation National Sportsman and Sportswoman awards ceremony.
