Heavy showers did not stop guests from coming out to celebrate the National Day of Spain held at the Spanish ambassador's residence on Tuesday, October 9.

Usually, the National Day of Spain is celebrated on October 12. As explained by His Excellency Ambassador Jesús Silva, the date marks the 515th anniversary of the encounter of two worlds and two cultures that have enriched and complemented each other. He also said it represents the start of a wider concept forged in the mutual knowledge of Europe and America, known today as the western world.

On the guest list were Government senior and junior ministers: Michael Stern, Arthur Williams, James Robertson, Rudyard Spencer, Horace Chang and Dorothy Lightbourne. We saw Ambassadors: Alfonso Silva, Gisela Garcia Rivera, Juergen Engel, Cedric Lanyon Harper, Filomena Navarro, Marco Mazzocchi Alemanni, Victor Zotin, Richard Bernal, Douglas Saunders, Lorne McDonnough as well as Courtney Rattray, Sharna-Kay Richards, Joan Clarke, Yvonne Clarke, Hon. Zaila McCalla, William and Ruth Potopsingh, Clelia Barreto de Hunter, Dr. Cezley Samson, Winston Watson, Dr. Wesley Hughes, Sharon Feanny, Frances Mahfood, Thailia Lyn and husband Michael Lyn.
