Skipper Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo top Windies averages: Gayle made fifth-fastest Test century of all time: Deonarine was 'next best' batsman

Captain Chris Gayle and all-rounder Dwayne Bravo topped the West Indies batting and bowling averages, respectively, in the just-concluded three-Test series against Australia.
Gayle, one of only five players to appear in all three matches, scored 346 runs in six innings for an average of 69.20.
He had a top-score of 165 not out in the second Test, his first of two centuries. His other three-figure score came in the third and final Test, a whirlwind 102, reached in just 70 balls. It was the fifth-fastest Test century of all time.
Narsingh Deonarine 'next best'
The next best batsman was Narsingh Deonarine, who played in only the third of the three Tests. Deonarine averaged 50.00 with a topscore of 82. Dour middle-order batsman, Australia-born Brendan Nash, was third on the list with an average of 41.66 in three games. He scored 250 runs with a topscore of 92.
Bravo took 11 wickets at 29.00 runs apiece to lead spinner Sulieman Benn in the bowling averages. Benn also took 11 wickets for a average of 37.09 per wicket.
West Indies batsmen scored four centuries during the series. Apart from Gayle, the other century makers were Trinidad and Tobago's 19-year-old opener Adrian Barath who got 104 on debut and his fellow Trinidadian Bravo who also had a top score of 104.
