Taking up the task of coordinating travel and hotel accommodation for overseas visitors has been very fulfilling for Charmaine Franklyn.

Volunteering her services for the second staging of the Shaggy and Friends show, Franklyn says the camaraderie among the entire production team, and the results of the show, are what keep her going. "This is for a good cause and it has been a tremendous success. It makes you feel really good, especially when you see how grateful the recipients are at the hospital because they need the proper equipment to carry out their jobs effectively."

The coordinator says her task is not necessarily a difficult one, and that the focus is more on coordinating. "I pretty much have to work with the times of the visitors and coordinate with the airline. I also will have to do their itineraries, do the ground logistics- transportation to the venue, even prior to the event, for sound checks as well as for meetings, if they have to attend. Of course, I have to work with the hotels, Hilton Kingston Jamaica and The Jamaica Pegasus hotel for the accommodation of these visitors."

Currently, she is compiling the names of all the visitors, and is to liaise with the airline sponsor - Air Jamaica. "This isn't necessarily an easy part, as many of the flights are full, especially because of the time of year, but the airline always pulls through."

With experience in the airline industry, Frankyn says this has helped her in carrying out her role efficiently and effectively.
