The Claro Jackie Bell Confederation final will be contested between Cavalier and Greenwich Town, after the teams knocked out Real Mona 3-2 and Santos 1-0, respectively, in yesterday's semi-finals.

Cavalier got on the scoresheet in the 13th minute when Locksley Thompson found the back of the net. A Cavalier player also scored the second goal of the game - own goal - which was inadvertently turned in at the 29th minute by central defender Bernard Blackwood.

The home team, however, took only nine minutes to regain the lead when the in-form Gee Daley netted in the 38th minute. There was, however, to be late drama as Sadiki Howlett found the equaliser for Real Mona two minutes before full-time.

Extra-time

The game then went into extra-time, allowing someone to become a hero and Shawn Henry seized the opportunity, scoring four minutes into extra-time.

The second semi-final saw joint Super League leaders Santos entertain sixth-place Major League team Greenwich Town.

Greenwich Town, which had got past Super League outfits Jamaica Defence Force and Constant Spring en route to the semis, looked the better team from the kick-off.

Despite Greenwich Town's dominance, the half looked set to end 0-0 until their captain, David Stulz, got on to the end of a wonderful passing move to fire his team ahead.

Santos should have pulled level three minutes into the second half, but their captain, Fabian Nethersole, headed straight at the keeper from within the six-yard box.

Extra-time

Santos did not offer much from there on and the frustration showed when Dwayne Atkinson was shown a red card on the stroke of full-time.

Steven Taylor, coach of Greenwich Town, was pleased with the way his team played.

"Whenever time we play a Super League team or a National League team we play much better because it's like the players rise to the occasion," Taylor said.

Taylor is not perturbed about playing joint Super League leaders Cavalier in the final.

"Anybody comes we are not afraid of anybody. Once we play good football, team football and play together we will achieve our goals."

Carlton Dennis, coach of Santos, believes his team lacked discipline.

"Very disappointed," he said about their elimination. "but if you are not disciplined you can't achieve and I think the indiscipline crept in because we feel that we have arrived," Dennis said.

He added, "We have the league to concentrate on so we will concentrate on that; we might have to make some changes."
