Former national security minister Dr Peter Phillips has asked questions of Prime Minister Bruce Golding which may force him to speak on extradition issues in Parliament.

Yesterday, Phillips, the member of parliament for East Central St Andrew, tabled questions in relation to the extent to which Jamaica had been honouring its obligation under the extradition and mutual legal assistance treaties.

Golding is expected to provide answers to the questions at the expiration of 21 days. The prime minister has been under pressure to ensure that his Government acts on the extradition issue concerning Tivoli Gardens strongman Christopher 'Dudus' Coke.

Coke is wanted in the United States on drug and weapons trafficking charges. He faces a maximum of life in prison if convicted.

The prime minister has set aside the second sitting in each month to answer questions, whether or not he has been given notice of them.
