Just under 500 police-military operations last month

Throughout last month, the joint police-military task force carried out 476 operational initiatives including 90 raids, 27 surges, and 358 vehicle check points across the island, mainly in Kingston, St Andrew, St Catherine, Clarendon and St James.
A total of 95 people were arrested and charged for various offences ranging from possession of firearms and ammunition, possession of offensive weapons and marijuana.
In addition, during the month under review, 634 people were detained and questioned for various offences. Seven persons, wanted by various divisions, were also arrested and charged.
The Joint Task Force recovered nine 9mm firearms, 60 rounds of assorted ammunition, approximately 2,000lb of marijuana; and more than $650,000 was seized.
