The battle between the girls' teams of Holmwood Technical High and Edwin Allen High continues in the Burger King 10K, the final race of the Jamdammers Road Race Series. The race is set to start at 3:30 p.m. at the Portmore Mall.The year-long battle, which started at Central Championships in March, then Girls' Championships shortly after, saw Holmwood taking the spotlight, then at the Penn Relays, Edwin Allen dominated. The battle could extend to the Reggae Marathon on December 5.

With the male and female titles of the Burger King/Jamdammers Series virtually decided, attention will turn to the girls from the two central Jamaica schools.

Edwin Allen, winners of the first three races, faltered in St Elizabeth last Sunday to allow Holmwood to crawl back into contention.

The Frankfield-based school, however, leads the section with 39 points, two more than their Christiana-based rivals.

Holmwood's boys, however, have things their way in the boys' championships - leading with 40 points over Edwin Allen (31).

Meanwhile, Kemoy Campbell, winner of all four races to date for 40 points, just needs to finish in the top six to secure the title over Kirk Brown (34) and Shawn Pitter (32).

Also, in the female section, G. C. Foster College's Stacy Bell (36) should beat her schoolmate Trishanna Williams (30). Bell, who has finished ahead of Williams in all races to date, is favoured to win as only falling out of the top six can deny her the title.

Tanice Barnett, winner of the last two races, the only times she faced the starter, and race two winner Natoya Goule, who suffered from abdominal pains and stopped in the last race, are out of contention.
