St. Catherine derby between Newlands and Bodles in Zone B tomorrow, as well as the battle between Downs and Tafari Lions in Zone A on the same afternoon, will highlight this weekend's second round of the South Central Super League.

In last weekend's opening round, four of the five St Catherine teams which comprise the 12-team competition, recorded victories while all Clarendon teams were beaten, and there were mixed results for the Manchester and St Elizabeth from their two respective representatives.

The camps of the headliners this weekend are boasting confidence after strong victories in last weekend's start of the competition. Newlands, which have failed to distinguish themselves in the league since joining three seasons ago, journeyed to Clarendon to beat last year's impressive newcomer Monymusk 2-1. Bodles, which in two seasons have reached the semi-finals and finals, began on an impressive note spanking St Elizabeth newcomers Leeds 3-0. Rohan Bartley, who scored twice in that game, also ticked off the leading goalscorer race.

Downs of Manchester which were making a return to the league after an absence of four years, did so with a highly recognised 1-nil away victory over former champions and Premier League contenders Naggo Head.

Interestingly, Naggo Head were the only one of the five St Catherine teams which did not begin the season with victory.

However, Downs can can expect no let-off in intensity hosting Tafari Lions who are now the flag-bearers for St Elizabeth. Their 3-0 shutout of Clarendon's Wood Hall was indeed a statement of their intentions which began last year by reaching the semi-finals.

Two Clarendon teams can hope to put on a better display when they host games later today at 3 p.m. Wood Hall entertain Tru-Juice at Turner's Oval while Original Hazard take on Naggo Head at Wembley. The weekend's schedule is completed with Meadows hosting Monymusk at Albion Oval (today) and Leeds awaiting Hillstars at STETHS in Santa Cruz.
