Gambling bill to be tabled Tuesday

Published: Thursday | October 22, 2009

The long-promised legislation to pave the way for casino gaming is to be tabled in Parliament next Tuesday, with debate on the bill to begin shortly after.

The legislation had been tabled in the House of Representatives in July a year ago but was withdrawn and amended after consultations involving the Office of the Prime Minister, potential investors and other stakeholders.

The Government had announced plans to introduce casino gaming more than a year ago, but this has been on hold pending the passing of the legislation.

Two international investors have already been given the OK to establish casinos locally.
