To some, Microsoft Jamaica's celebration of 10 years of existence may seem short, but considering all the benefits Jamaicans have garnered, it's been a great decade.

So that was cause for a festive atmosphere at Terra Nova All-Suite Hotel on Thursday, October 1, as company officials celebrated the anniversary. Country Manager Joseph McKinson revealed that Microsoft Jamaica was the first branch of the global entity to be established in the English-speaking Caribbean. He reiterated the company's vision to uplift the underprivileged and help them to realise their potential. He underlined the company's commitment to innovation and the Jamaican people.

Perhaps no greater testimony to the company's commitment was the Northern Caribbean University's Imagine Cup teams that perennially do well at the global software/game design competition for youth. The 2009 members were in attendance to celebrate the company's milestone.

The anniversary celebrations included a sneak preview of the hotly anticipated Windows 7, set to be officially launched worldwide on October 22. Fans of Microsoft can expect about a dozen other products, ensuring the company's continued ties to the island.

Guests out included Henry Osborne, Halzen Smith, Derron Brown, Trevoir Williams, Dwayne Samuels, Shawn McLean, Mervyn Eyre, Zina Edwards Malcolm and Bernard Pinson.
