It was a phenomenal day of spinning, yoga, pilates and health talks accompanied by an intimate concert with Shaggy and friends at Shakti Love Fest held at Terra Nova All-Suite hotel on Saturday, October 3.

People came out in large numbers to support a worthy cause, as all proceeds from the event will be donated to the Bustmante Hospital for Children. The event kicked off at the crack of dawn (5:30 a.m.) with a spinning and yoga class. The spinning classes were exceptional and Michael Fisher's class at 10:30 a.m. was like a party. DJ Squeeze was on the turntable, while patrons were taken on a journey 'through the hills of St Ann'.

During the session by spinning instructor from the United States, Tami Riley, Shaggy popped in and sang his song, Hope. This got the participants motivated and they began spinning faster. After a while they were singing along and waving their hands. It was quite exciting. The fastest man in the world, Usain Bolt, also came by to show his support for the event and joined in the spinning class with Natashia Iacovelli. He rode like a pro, as good as he runs.

The entire hotel was transformed into an oasis of all things healthy and health related. Ocean Spray had an overhead misting system that patrons who got too hot could walk under and cool down. Tru-Juice aslo provided a lot of nutritional shakes to help beat the heat.

For those interested in creating a balance between mind and body and adopt a healthy lifestyle, there was an abundance of information. Local and international professionals in the health field had sessions throughout the day. After a full day of activities, it was time to relax at an intimate concert with Shaggy, Tarrus Riley, Toots, Rootz Underground, among others. During Rootz Underground's performance, Loren Russo, yoga instructor from Miami Beach, Florida, did an extreme yoga performance. It was spectacular and left the audience in awe as she contorted her body into amazing positions. The event ended on a high note and organiser of the event, Sharon Feanny, noted that she hoped the event would be an annual one.
