  • LIME in 20/20cricket final

    High-riding LIME advanced to the final of the Digicel 20/20 Business House KO cricket competition when they defeated NWC by four wickets with two balls to spare in semi-final action at Chalmers Avenue recently.

    LIME thus earned the right to meet Jamaica Broilers in the December 6 final.

    Batting first, NWC made 126 for six off their 20 overs - Christopher Senior 37, Duran Whyte 26, Garwain Johnson 16; Colin Bailey 2-28, Brian Blair 2-15. LIME 127 for six off 19.4 overs - Dave Johnson 37, Ryan Francis 29, national player Horace Miller 23; Oneil Wright 2-19.

    AT JAMALCO: Jamaica Broilers defeated Jamalco by 40 runs in the St Ann Jamaica Bauxite Partners-sponsored 35-over KO competition last Sunday.

    Jamaica Broilers 190 for eight off their 35 overs - Peter Caballero 50, Marinaro Dixon 38; Derrick Spence 2-29, Errol Thomas Jr. 2-34. Jamalco 150 all out in 25.5 overs - Miguel Gordon 37, Thomas 35, Collis Johnson 26; Nicoy Lindo 3-24, skipper Robert Turner 3-27.

  • MegaMart are 3 on 3basketball champs

    MegaMart defeated Grace Cannings 48-42 in Game four of the Business House three on three Division I basketball final at the Stadium Courts on Wednesday, September 23, to capture the best-of-five finals 3-1.

    Led by 19 points from Christopher Brown, MegaMart led from the start to hold a 12-point advantage at half-time. Although Grace Cannings rallied strongly to narrow the lead to four midway the second half, MegaMart held on well to win by six points.

    Kevin Bailey, with a game high 20 points, was the topscorer for Grace Cannings.

    Meanwhile, National Water Commission (NWC) emerged Division II champions, whipping Western Sports 49-26 in Game three. Jeffery Brown, with a game high 19 points, led the scoring for the Roger Marshall-coached NWC, while Cari-Med beat BOJ in the play-off for third.

  • Scotia 'A' unbeatenin Sr League netball

    Open League champions Scotiabank 'A' made it nine in a row in the Business House Netball Association Senior League on Saturday, September 26, beating Jamaica Broilers 56-32 in a top-of-the-table clash at the Leila Robinson Courts.

    As usual, goal shooter Marsha Murphy led the scoring for Scotia 'A' with 42 points, while captain Naudia Brown sunk 14.

    Scotia 'A' had previously crushed NCB 58-8 at the Leila Robinson Courts on September 24, with Murphy getting 35 points. On the same afternoon, Jamaica Broilers defeated RBTT 51-28, while days earlier the Scotiabank 'B' team clipped NCB 45-41. Scotiabank 'B' were subsequently beaten 36-34 by RBTT last Thursday in Senior League action.

    A rejuvenated Gleaner team won their third match in a row on September 26 in the Junior League, whipping Wray & Nephew 19-9 with Sophia Davis-Johnson scoring 13 points.

    Last Thursday, JPS defeated HEART Trust/NTA 43-29, SERHA drubbed Digicel 41-18 and the ICD Group beat JUTC 44-34 in Intermediate 'A' League action, while GraceKennedy stopped Cool Petroleum 29-17 in the Intermediate 'B' League.

  • Inter-Bank football

    Led by a hat-trick from Stephan Bartley, defending champions Scotiabank defeated First Caribbean International Bank 6-2 in the third round of the JNBS/Western Sports Norman Goodison Inter-Bank football league at the NWC playing field, Mona, last Sunday.

    Bartley also scored twice in Scotia's 2-0 victory over Pan Caribbean on the previous Sunday.

    In other matches played last Sunday, joint leaders JNBS drubbed NCB 7-1 with a double strike from Jair Minott, while RBTT defeated Pan Caribbean 2-0 with goals from Corey Mussington and Bernard Dwight.

    The competition moves into its fourth round today with the unbeaten teams Scotiabank and JNBS in a top-of-the-table clash at NWC playing field, starting at 4:00 p.m., FirstCaribbean vs RBTT in the first match at 2 p.m. and NCB vs Pan Caribbean at Old Men's Hockey Field staring at 3 p.m.
