In a game disrupted twice by irate bottle-throwing fans, many-times champions Cornwall College took over sole leadership of Zone A of the 2009 ISSA/Pepsi/Digicel daCosta Cup yesterday afternoon when they surprised 10-man St James High 1-0 in their big Montego Bay derby at Jarrett Park.

Cornwall College's all-important goal came from the boots of skipper Oraine Braham, who fired home a brilliant 40th minute free kick. The free kick came after defender Keniel Kirlew of St James was sent off following a rash tackle.

Cornwall on 15 points

Cornwall moved to 15 points while St James remained on 12.

Bottles were thrown on the field twice in the second half. A header by St James forward, Allan Ottey, found the back of the net but the referee ruled offside. Angry fans then disrupted the game by raining bottles on the officials.

A second disruption came in the final minute when St James High again got the ball across the goal-line and the referee again ruled offside. As before, the fans reacted angrily, raining more bottles on at the officials. The final whistle came in the confusion.
