Richard Todd was elected president of the newly formed United Racehorse Trainers' Association of Jamaica (URTA) by unanimous acclaim at a special meeting in the Trainers' Room at Caymanas Park on Wednesday morning.
Other officers elected to the breakaway association by the 70 trainers present were Frank Parham (first vice-president), Bernard 'Bunny' Vincent (second vice-president), Harry Parsard (third vice-president/treasurer) and Colin Blair (secretary).
Committee members are Richard Azan, L.C. Todd, Dennis Pryce and Robert Darby Sr.
Bernard Vincent, speaking on behalf of the URTA, said they have been registered as a company and is a member of the Private Sector Association.
Disgruntled members of the Vin Edwards-led Jamaica Racehorse Trainers' Association broke away from that body last year, citing discrepancies in the March 30 election which saw Edwards beating Parham 48-8 in a lopsided victory.
The Jamaica Racing Commission, acting on a petition from the 'concerned' trainers, subsequently ruled that election null and void.
