Lyns murder case put off again

Published: Wednesday | September 30, 2009

The trial of the two men charged with the murder of Manchester couple Richard and Julia Lyn has been put off to October 5.

The accused are Lennox Swaby and Calvin Powell, both of Manchester.

The trial should have started on Monday in the Home Circuit Court but had to be put off because attorney-at-law Dr Randolph Williams, who is representing Swaby, applied for an adjournment.

Decomposed bodies

Dr Williams said he got further instructions last week from Swaby and needed time to prepare the case.

The Lyns were murdered in December 2006 during a robbery at their home in Mandeville.

The decomposed bodies of the couple, who were in their 70s, were found at the Martins Hill Dump in Manchester.

Swaby and Powell are in custody.
