Western Bureau: Champions St James High School registered their third consecutive win of the 2009 ISSA/Pepsi/Digicel daCosta Cup season yesterday when they blanked former champions Herbert Morrison Technical 2-0 in their Zone A Montego Bay derby at Bogue.

"We did not do ourselves justice today as we again wasted a number of easy chances," said St James High coach Pastor Hugh Solomon. "It is good that we are winning but we really need to start converting more of our chances."

The St James High team, which got its goals through last year's golden boot winner Allan Ottey and midfield star Ricardo Morris, now has a comfortable three-point lead atop the group standings with maximum nine points. Herbert Morrison, who were suffering back-to-back defeats, now have a mere one point from three games.

PLAYED MUCH BETTER

In another Zone A game in Montego Bay, the competition's most successful team, Cornwall College, made it two wins from two starts with a 3-0 blanking of Muschett High at Jarrett Park. Nickyle Webber, Horraine Lewis and skipper Oraine Braham were the goalscorers.

"Defensively, we played much better than the first game and, as a consequence, we did not give up many chances," said Steve Bucknor, the Cornwall College coach. "Offensively, I believe we again played well so we are pleased with that aspect of our game."
