Jockey Lenroy Collins, who rode SMOOTH DIAMOND in the eighth race at Caymanas Park on Wednesday, July 29, has been suspended for two racedays by the stewards.

Collins was summoned by the stewards to the Winchester Road offices of the Jamaica Racing Commission on Tuesday and was penalised for careless riding aboard SMOOTH DIAMOND, causing interference to both YOJIMBO and SPACE FURY in the vicinity of the 1000-metre point, and intimidation to YOJIMBO near the 900-metre and 600-metre points. His suspension will take effect tomorrow.

Jockey Carlton Malcolm, who rode CONFETTI in the seventh race on Saturday, August 22, was fined $2,000 by the stewards for his failure to persevere with his mount in the last 200 metres, resulting in the loss of sixth position at the finish.

Meanwhile, champion jockey Omar Walker should have faced the stewards on Tuesday for his riding of the disqualified winner TEAMWORK on August 8, but was unable to attend and the hearing has been rescheduled for next Tuesday, September 8.

Walker survived a stewards' inquiry on the day in question, but following an appeal by the owner/trainer of the second horse, LADY CAMILLE, against the decision of the stewards to allow TEAMWORK to keep the race following an infringement in the last furlong, the full commission reversed the appeal of the raceday stewards by disqualifying TEAMWORK. The race was awarded to LADY CAMILLE, owned and trained by Terrence McWhinney.
