Love is the answer

In Julie Taylor-Omole's letter on September 1, she states: "Love ... would do nothing for a hungry, homeless, unclothed man." What this writer does not understand is that if we truly loved, we would all be our brothers' keepers, so the above scenario would not exist. Each loved person becomes our brother or sister, to be treated as we would treat ourselves.
With real Christian love, every person shares everything, not merely cast-offs or surplus, with the needy. Love of others before self would ensure that those making corporate decisions and laws would not put their portion/needs, which are always greatest, first. Benevolence over despotism and other 'isms'.
People whose hearts are loving cannot be dishonest, corrupt, murderous, self-seeking, power hungry, envious or arrogant in their relationships and dealing with others. So many of the problems that exist globally would disappear. Too simplistic? Perhaps, but consider it seriously - if all humans thought lovingly, they would not put themselves first in any decision, and so many of the problems would be solved. It is not as easy or simple as it sounds, but once tried, it is an amazing experience. Have you given something freely, not grud-gingly, and if thanked recognised that the joy of giving is inexpressibly greater than the cost of the gift?
Try it today; give a free gift of love to every person you meet. A smile, a greeting, courtesy on the road - love gifts always miraculously multiply. You will be richer for it.
