Time to be patriotic

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I WOULD like to applaud The Gleaner for recognising Brian Lynch's letter as 'Letter of the Day', and more so Lynch for writing it. You have expressed my sentiments to the fullest.

I am a civil servant (in administration) and you know that our salary is an allowance. Nevertheless, I am a Jamaican to the bone and wish to see growth in my country. As a result, I have to forgo the seven per cent increase so that my fellow Jamaicans can keep their jobs, and also that the Government can work the budget to the benefit of our country.

Take responsibility

If there is one time we think we should be patriotic, it is now. Each of us must take responsibility to spend wisely, especially at this time. We have to think long term and not short term. We all have to join hand and hearts together and wait until our change comes. Let us continue to think justly in this matter and God will honour us.

I am, etc.,
