Miss Earth Jamaica organisers recently announced that by August 28 they will reveal the result of the selection of a representative for Jamaica at the ninth staging of the Miss Earth competition which takes place in Manilia, Philippines, from October 18 to November 8.

The Miss Earth winner serves as the spokesperson for the Miss Earth Foundation, the United Nations Environment Programme and other environmental organisations. About 90 contestants from different countries and territories are expected to compete. At the conclusion of the competition, Miss Earth 2008, Karla Henry of the Philippines, will crown her successor.

A team of top industry professionals in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, has been put in place to assist the new Miss Earth Jamaica in her preparation for the international competition. She will undertake a physical regimen of fitness and nutrition training with personal trainer Loleta Riley; receive speech and diction guidance from media personality Winston Barnes; catwalk training from runway coach Romeo Callwood; and instruction on make-up application from Deandra Nosworthy.

Noted Bahamian fashion designer and wardrobe stylist Valentino Omar of Genevieve Couture, Cuban designer Francisco Azucar of Fashions by Azucar, as well as other top designers will provide an extensive wardrobe for Miss Earth Jamaica to cover the requirements of the gruelling competition.

The Miss Earth Jamaica pageant organisers and their team of industry professionals are committed to making brand Jamaica a success at this year's Miss Earth pageant.
