The RedBones Blues Café will host Jazzin' With The Young Lions 2k9 Live, on Saturday at 8:30 p.m.

The evening of jazz will feature Maurice Gordon, Jeremy Ashbourne and the Alvis Reid Trio.

Both Ashbourne and Reid are former students of Gordon. The two students are currently furthering their studies in music in Europe. The evening could be considered a reunion of teacher and students to make a jazzy presentation.

Fluid technique

Gordon is widely recognised in the jazz circle for his fluid technique. He has worked with many Jamaican and international musicians including Monty Alexander, Dean Fraser, Ernest Ranglin, Joe Sealy and Jim Heineman.

Ashbourne and Reid have also been active on the local scene. They are both members of the local group The Wild Grin quartet, and they have been performing on various shows, accompanying new and upcoming talents.

The repertoire for the evening will consist primarily of jazz standards and other contemporary material.
