McKenzie finished fourth in the 200m in his first outing against the big men at the National Senior Championships. His run has won him a place as cover for the injured Marvin Anderson, who is suffering from a hamstring injury, on the team to Berlin. McKenzie, a Calabar schoolboy, clocked a personal-best 20.56. He is a bit lucky to get on the team ahead of the more experienced Nickel Ashmeade. McKenzie lost to Ashmeade at the CAC Seniors and again at Pan Am juniors.
