Caribbean sides Haiti and Guadeloupe were kicked out of the 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup tournament on Sunday when they suffered heavy losses to Central American opponents at Dallas Cowboys' new stadium.
Costa Rica used two goals from Alvaro Saborio to whip Guade-loupe 5-1 and in a game watched by a massive crowd of 82,252. Mexico flattened the Haitians 4-0.
The results terminated Caribbean presence in the tournament.
Jamaica's Reggae Boyz, the reigning Digicel Caribbean Championship winners, and runners-up Grenada had failed to reach the quarter-finals.
The pair will meet in Thursday's semi-finals while USA face Honduras in the other clash for a spot in the final.
Against Guadeloupe, Costa Rica led 2-0 at the half following early strikes by Celso Borges, in the third minute, and Saborio (16th).
Andy Herron made it 3-0 in the 47th before Saborio (71st) and substitute Pablo Herrera (89th) sealed the big win.
Alexandre Alphonse got a consolation goal for the Caribbean side in the 64th minute and losing coach Roger Salnot admitted that giving up early goals killed them.
"At the start of the game, we weren't really concentrating and were a bit out of sorts," Salnot said.
"Taking two goals early was a big blow," he added.
Haiti, the 2007 Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Team of the Year, were competitive for long periods against Mexico but the CONCACAF powerhouse were clinical in attack and struck some fine goals in the fixture which they led 2-0 at the break.
Miguel Sabah opened the scoring in the 23rd minute in the rebound off a missed Israel Castro penalty kick.
Castro's shot was blocked by Haiti goalkeeper Jean Zephirin, sending it back into the middle of the penalty box where Sabah pounced with a right foot shot.
Jamaican referee Courtney Campbell had whistled a penalty kick against Haiti when defender Frantz Bertin deflected a Sabah shot with his right hand at the mouth of the goal.
