It was smiles all around when LIME presented a cheque for US$5,000 (J$450,000) to the Jamaica Visually Impaired Cricket Association last Thursday. The donation will help cover the costs of sending Jamaica's Visually Impaired Cricket Team to Guyana for the West Indies Blind Cricket Council's Regional Tournament which is now on in Guyana. Sharing in the moment are (from left) Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, Olivia 'Babsy' Grange; the president of the Jamaica Visually Impaired Cricket Association, Vivalyn Latty-Scott; visually-impaired cricketer Dwayne Campbell, LIME's Country Manager, Geoff Houston, and LIME's regional vice-president, legal, regulatory and corporate affairs, Camille Facey.

Just ahead of their departure for the West Indies Blind Cricket Council's Regional Tournament in Guyana last Thursday, Jamaica's Visually Impaired Cricket Team received US$5,000 (J$445,000) sponsorship from LIME to help cover the costs of attending the competition.

The team, three-time defending champions for the competition, received their sponsorship cheque from LIME's country manager for Jamaica, Geoff Houston, at the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture.

Humbled and very honoured

"Having had the opportunity to meet and chat with some of the members of the team, we at LIME are very humbled and very honoured to have the opportunity to support them in this way," Houston said.

"To hear the players describe their efforts and how they work together as a team and how they look out for each other and their great track record of success which includes winning the three previous Regional Championships is a testament to what you can do if you work together," he added.

Defending champions

Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, Olivia 'Babsy' Grange, who was instrumental in securing the sponsorship from LIME said: "I want to express my deep appreciation to LIME for their assistance and I want to wish the team to all the best in Guyana and I hope they continue to make us proud."

The West Indies Blind Cricket Council's Regional Tournament began in Guyana yesterday and will continue until July 26. Defending champions Jamaica are competing against teams from Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana.
