National 400-metre hurdles champion Isa Phillips continued his impressive 2009 form with victory at an athletics meet in Lucerne, Switzerland, yesterday.

Phillips, a former St Andrew Technical High student, won in 48.66 seconds beating American Michael Tinsley, 48.69, and David Green of Great Britain, 48.78.

There was a second-place finish for sprinter Steve Mullings in the men's 100 metres while Carrie Russell and Simone Facey were fourth and fifth, respectively, in the women's 100m.

Mullings clocked 10.16 seconds behind American Ivory Williams, 10.03. Alonzo Edwards of Panama was third in 10.22. Another Jamaican, Winston Barnes, took sixth in 10.42.

American Gloria Assumnu (11.22) won the women's 100m with her compatriot, 2005 World champion Lauryn Williams, second in 11.23. Russell clocked 11.27 and Facey, 11.39.

In the women's 100-metre hurdles Jamaica's Lacena Golding-Clarke was sixth in 13.19. The event was won by Australia's Sally McLellan in 12.73 with Lolo Jones of the United States second in 12.92.
