Chef Sven Erik Renaa, recently named the 2008 Best Norwegian Chef, will host the Seafood From Norway Culinary Adventure 2009 in Kingston, St Ann and Hanover from July 28-30.

Thirty-six of Jamaica's leading chefs have signed on to participate in three one-day workshops to be held at the Jamaica Pegasus, Kingston; the Runaway Bay HEART Hotel and Training Institute in St Ann; and the luxurious Tryall Club in Sandy Bay, Hanover.

"Seafood From Norway presents only the best," says Svein Wara, marketing manager, Norwegian Seafood Export Council. "Following the successful Culinary Adventure 2008 with Chef Dada from Brazil, we continue to promote new and non-traditional methods of creating tasty saltfish dishes."

Chef Renaa is renowned for his ability to take basic foods and transform them into culinary masterpieces. Renaa has been honing his skill since he was 16. His colleagues describe him as an uncompromising perfectionist who strives to achieve the highest standards in preparation, focusing on technique and ingredients.

He has worked at the Hotel Continental and the Brasserie Hansken in Oslo, and the Park Avenue Café in New York. Since 2000, he has worked with Norway's foremost centre of expertise for the culinary arts, the Culinary Institute of Norway in Stavanger.

In 2000 and 2006 he was voted Chef of the Year in Norway and in 2009 he received the 2008 Best Norwegian Chef designation.
