PRATVILLE, Manchester:

STUDENTS AT the Pratville Primary and Infant School in Manchester were reminded of the importance of protecting their surroundings and also learned how Jamalco helps to protect the environment during a seminar held at the school in commemoration of Earth Day, April 22.

Geologist at Jamalco, Damian Williams, told the students that "the waste that is generated from Jamalco's operations is carefully managed in order to protect the environment around us".

At the end of the presentation, Principal Valda Buckle said that the information was comprehensive and the students had benefited from the presentation.

Said head girl Latoya Powell: "Thanks for educating us about how to protect the precious gift that God has given to us. We now have a better understanding of how to take care of our environment."
