Security review needed

The Editor, Sir:

Prime Minister Bruce Golding must order a security review for the Sangster International Airport following the breach in which a man who is said to be of unsound mind hijacked a CanJet chartered flight. Let's imagine that this hijacker was a terrorist, only God knows what could have happened.

When I visited Jamaica last year I noticed that the Sangster International Airport was poorly-policed to act as a serious deterrent to terrorists. Security staff was thinly spread out over several areas. The Government must set up undercover teams to expose and close the loopholes. Immediate action must be taken to rectify any shortcomings in the procedures to ensure that a similar event does not happen again.

Visitors to Jamaica are not fooled by public relations campaigns; they will come only when security and stability are the norm.
