Daley - director of 'Hurricane Lovers'.
Hurricane Lovers will be playing this weekend at the Fairfield Theatre in Montego Bay.
In response to an SOS by their alma mater, past students of Mt Alvernia High School will present a benefit performance of Patrick Brown's hilarious hit comedy on Saturday, to raise much-needed funds for the all-girls institution.
Brown is one of Jamaica's top comedic writers, having under his belt such works as River Bottom, Oliver at Large, December, Puppy Love, Ras Noah and the Hawk and Love Games, to name just a few.
Extremely humorous
'Hurricane Lovers' offers an extremely humorous look at marriage through the eyes of newly-weds, John and Hilda Charm. The loving couple arrives at the Pleasure Beach hotel with no suspicion of the deep dark secrets about to be exposed. As skeletons start to emerge from their closets, the shabby honeymoon suite soon becomes a war zone, and with a real hurricane closing in, the newly-weds find themselves embroiled in the honeymoon from hell.
Caught in this storm of emotions is Marley, the hotel's maintenance man, who finds himself having to act as referee, marriage counsellor and even an unsuspecting participant in a love-triangle.
Unravelling this den of secrets is a first class team led by Christopher 'Johnny' Daley who will be making his local directorial debut. The cast will include multi-award winning actor Dahlia Harris, alternating with Nyanda Cammock, alongside other home-grown favourites Douglas Prout and Tony Rodney.
Hurricane Lovers will be open for a limited run from February 27 until April 5, and will also be partnering with several charitable organisations in western Jamaica on benefit performances.
All proceeds from Saturday's event will go towards providing social programmes at the Mt Alvernia High School.
