No one to steer the ship

THE EDITOR, Sir:

FOR YEARS, we have been hearing that Devon House ice cream is world-class. I attempted to sample some recently and this was in vain. The line for purchasing stretched to the parking lot, and the pastry shop was busy putting up shutters at 9 p.m.

Which private sector company would live with this debacle? This is an example of the fawning political mentality which rules at this time. Our so-called leaders are more concerned with being on the social pages of newspapers than dealing with the problems that have not yet hit Jamaica squarely. Obama is a leader and has proven himself as such. What do we have?

Our future at risk

Does anyone with cojones want to talk about what this country needs? We are going down the drain and our so-called leaders from both parties are playing games with our future. The next budget is bound to be painful, but our government has not attempted to inform the population of what is at stake.

Wake up, Prime Minister Bruce Golding! You have been the greatest disappointment in Jamaican politics in my lifetime. A tsunami is coming and we are not ready for it. The Bank of Jamaica cannot run this country and you need to take control.

Who runs the country?

Must we depend on foreign investments for the rest of our lives?

I am, etc.,
