WESTERN BUREAU:
Odette Dyer rested comfortably on husband Godfrey's 'lap', Madge and Neville Levy hid from the cameras and hosts, attorney Percival Clarke and his entrepreneur wife, Murine, revelled in the excitement that surrounded their Sunday brunch.
The start to what will be a series of monthly Sunday brunches hosted by friends in an intimate setting, delighted the foodies who have already marked their calendar for next month's eating.
MAKING A MARK
The Clarkes were determined to make their mark at their posh Coral Gardens home in Montego Bay last Sunday.
Satiating the appetites with succulent stewed pork, mouth-watering mackerel run-dung, perfectly steamed callaloo, finger-licking ackee, fried and boiled dumplings, Trelawny yam and St Mary banana, they had guests making second, third and fourth trips to the kitchen.
As if that were not enough sinful delights in one morning, mimosa and the newly coined 'paposa' (orange juice and Champagne in a larger-than-life glasses), crêpes and cheesecake, bread pudding and potato pudding didn't need icing to melt in the mouth.
The brunch which started at 11 a.m. and should have ended at 3 p.m. was still going at 5:30 p.m. In attendance were members of the 'Lonely Hearts' Club: Dolly Daryanani and president, Richard Russell, April and Seymour Knight, Dr Tony Vendryes and wife, Dorothy, who celebrated her birthday, Cheryl 'Hakanani' Atkinson, Michelle and Andy Daswani, Karen Neita, Joan and Clive Lee, Beverly Russell, Lorna Johnson, Audrey Tenn and Tom Lee.
