Man breaks neck in fall from breadfruit tree
published: Saturday | August 30, 2008

SPALDINGS, Clarendon:

A Manchester man died under bizarre circumstances just prior to the passage of Gustav.

Dead is 50-year-old George Martin of Main Street Porus in that parish.

According to reports, about 1 p.m. Thursday, Martin told neighbours he was going to pick breadfruit for his dinner, but he wanted to do so before the storm.

The police reported that, while picking the breadfruit, a limb broke from the tree with Martin. He fell, breaking his neck.
