Ports islandwide reopen today
published: Saturday | August 30, 2008

A boy makes his way across a bridge overflowing with water from the Wag Water River in Golden Spring, St Andrew yesterday. The river swelled as a result of heavy rains associated with Tropical Storm Gustav.

The Port Authority of Jamaica has advised all shipping agents, port operators and the general public that the Port of Kingston and all other ports around the island will be re-opened to shipping from 7 a.m. this morning.

Poor weather conditions associated with Gustav yesterday prevented the Port Authority from re-opening the nation's ports.

Ports along the the north coast; Port Antonio, Ocho Rios, Discovery Bay, Rio Bueno and Montego Bay were closed on Wednesday while the Port of Kingston was closed on Thursday.
