Ochi Jazz Fest kicks off at The Pegasus
published: Saturday | June 7, 2008

The 18th annual Jamaica International Ocho Rios Jazz Festival swings into action tomorrow in The Gardens at the Jamaica Pegasus hotel in New Kingston.

The festival will feature local and international women who have blazed a trail in the field of jazz. The event starts at 6 p.m.

This year's theme, 'Women in Jazz', will see the likes of saxophonist YolanDa Brown as one of the headline acts to take the stage on Sunday.

Born and raised in London, England, Brown references an eclectic mix of music, including jazz, Afro-jazz, gospel, reggae, salsa, hip hop and R&B.

Other headline acts on opening night are Marjorie Whylie, Myrna Hague, Ouida Lewis and Mary Isaacs.
