LETTER OF THE DAY - Obama race speech greatest since MLK
The Editor, Sir: When the last pillars of apartheid in South Africa, namely, the Group Areas Act, Land Acts and Population Registration Act were abolished in 1991, it paved the path for that country's first non-racial elections from April 26-28, 1994, which saw the installation of that great champion of human rights, Nelson Mandela as president on May 10, 1994.
Concern about status of Attorney General Department
The Editor, Sir: I write with deep concern at what could only be described as 'very troubling' developments at the Attorney General's Department and the appearance of political interference in the management of its affairs.
Corruption the reason for party switch
The Editor, Sir: I am a supporter of the Bruce Golding-led government. I have not always been supportive of the Jamaica Labour Party. I supported the People's National Party up to about five years ago, at which point I could no longer deny the trail of destruction, corruption, incompetence and wanton neglect by a government that had impressed me earlier with its intellect and organisation.
Noteworthy
I am a proud Jamaican living in Bermuda. My parents still live their in the small community of Flagaman in St Elizabeth. I am getting more and more irritated by the water situation they have to face each day.
Listen to the lyrics
THE EDITOR, Sir: Please allow me to comment on a story in The Gleaner of March 18, 'Send me the report! - Felice wants research findings which link rich Jamaicans to crime'.
