David Burton (centre), business development manager of Wisynco Group, with the victorious Hydel team following their 2-0 win over Vaz Prep in the final of the BIGGA/JISA Alberga Cup played at the University of the West Indies, last Saturday.

HYDEL LAST Saturday won the BIGGA/JISA Alberga Cup title when they defeated the Vaz Prep 2-0 in the final played at the University of the West Indies (UWI) playing field.

Hydel took the lead after only 10 minutes when Stephan Gilzene fired home from close range.

It got better for the defending champions, who swept the Alberga Cup and Henriques Knockout titles last year, as Rory Bryan hit the back of the net in the 22nd minute.

Vaz, who were also beaten in the final of the Henriques Knockout by Quest last week and were desperate to close out this season with silverware, fought gallantly but to no avail as the Hydel team held on to win.

Coach of Hydel, Junior Bryan, was an elated man.

"I am really happy," he said, while saying despite losing some players, "we still managed to win the Alberga Cup".

Wolde Harris was disappointed following his team's second defeat this season.

"I think we came out a bit flat and they caught us off guard," he said. In the third-place play-off, Quest defeated Lanamans 5-4 on penalties.
