Transfer rules high on Jamaica Netball Association agenda
published: Saturday | December 15, 2007

The matter of the transfer rules governing players in the Jamaica Netball Association (JNA) leagues will be high on the agenda when the association hold its annual general meeting today at St. Hugh's High School, starting at 2:00 p.m.

Sources in the JNA told The Gleaner yesterday that the association will be looking at the transfers, rules, because from time to time there has been tension between the clubs regarding the transfer of players.

It is also understood that the JNA have change some of the rules regarding player transfers, and have discussed them with the teams at a pervious meeting and will therefore bring it to the executives for ratification.

Marva Bernard, president of the JNA, who is expected to be un-opposed for her post, confirmed the matter, saying league officials have met the clubs before and a final decision will be made today regarding the issue.

"We have made a decision regarding the matter and it will be tabled at today's general meeting," Bernard said yesterday.

"We want to make sure that we put a professional system in place like other associations, so that whenever players are transferred it is done legitimately," Bernard explained.
