Letter of the day - Clash of wits, not a political debate
The Editor, Sir: I am wondering, why the urgency for a political debate? In my opinion, it is all about a clash of wits to show to the nation the bright child versus the dull child or one's prowess over the other.

The Editor, Sir: The Portmore leg of Highway 2000 was opened by the Ministry of Transport and Works in a rush. The reason for this was any delay whatsoever by the Government would attract a financial compensation payable to the operators...


Facing the future with confidence

The Editor, Sir: The Caribbean has every right to face the future with confidence. For this region of only six million people has demonstrated its ability to compete at the level of ideas in a global society.


Cut the managers first

The Editor, Sir: The recent advice from the IMF to the Jamaican Government to slash the public sector work force has fuelled a very sensitive discussion. From a practical point of view, can the government afford to cut the civil servants?
