Jamaica Gleaner Letters

LETTER OF THE DAY - Is a fifth term now the priority?
THE EDITOR, Sir: I MUST first join in congratulating Portia Simpson Miller on her victory in becoming the President of the PNP and soon Prime Minister of Jamaica. She led a very successful campaign and the delegates have made their choice.

Rock the boat, Madame Portia
THE EDITOR, Sir: IT IS with pride that I welcome our first female Prime Minister-designate and wish for her a whole lot of success. It will be a tough road for her, but if she manages the goodwill that she has from the Jamaican people in a humble way...

Pray for us
THE EDITOR, Sir: IN RECENT times I have seen four members of my church fall prey to senseless criminal violence - the two Missionaries of the Poor, Albert Johnson in Montego Bay (who by the grace of God is still alive) and Mrs. Vilma Mais.

How can we defend ourselves?
THE EDITOR, Sir: I HAVE observed as the Government of Jamaica bemoans the condemnation directed towards this country by the United States in its State Department Country Report on Human Rights Practices.
