Minnows Kingston and St Andrew (KSA) Titans and Hanover Dolphins' dream run in the inaugural national Red Stripe Twenty20 Championship continued yesterday, as they recorded second round wins over seeded teams Jamaica Masters Panthers and Trelawny Buccaneers at Chewin Park and St Ann Bauxite, respectively.

Kingston and St Andrew, who defeated Police Hammers in the first round of the four-week championship, clipped Panthers by 10 runs, while Hanover got the better of Trelawny by 45 runs.

Respectable score

Winning the toss and electing to take first strike, KSA posted a respectable 141-9 before returning to dismiss the Masters for 131 in the penultimate over.

Off-spinner Winston Walker, 2-10, Kedar Brown, 45, and Elvis Watson, 40, led the way for the Maxfield-based KSA, who will now turn their attention to next weekend's quarter-finals against the Dolphins at Alpart Sports Club, St Elizabeth.

Former West Indies captain, Jimmy Adams, with 45, led the way for the Panthers, which included Courtney Walsh, Cleveland Davidson, Mario Ventura, Terrence Corke and Andre Coley.

Challenging

At St Ann Bauxite, Hanover, after winning the toss and deciding to bat, posted a challenging 169-6 with Omar Campbell top-scoring with 33 not out against the left-arm spin of Lorenzo Ingram, 2-20.

Trelawny, who had a decent start of 60-1 off 10 overs, then fell away and eventually totalled 124-9, with Ingram getting 40 against Ziggy Levy, 2-15.

In other results, favourites and seeded Melbourne Kangaroos defeated the Jamaica Defence Force Brigades by eight wickets in the second match at Chedwin Park, while St Elizabeth Warriors got the better of St Ann Cutters in a high-scoring thriller at St Ann Bauxite.
